Spring 2024 Nosrati Law College Scholarship Winner Announced

Posted on May 15, 2023 | Firm News

After reviewing a substantial number of submissions, we are proud to announce the recipient of our Nosrati Law College Scholarship. We have selected high school senior, Jaheim C., from Georgia, as the 2024 Scholarship winner.

Jaheim’s dream of playing college basketball ended suddenly in January 2024 after a substantial physical injury during a high school basketball game. Not only did this force him to develop a new post-high school plan but also a different dream for his future. This was a major challenge since he’s been playing basketball since the early age of three. However, Jaheim is not new to facing challenges — he was born deaf.

As a child, he learned that his disability did not define him and now he is reminded that neither does his inability to play college basketball. He continues to meet his challenges head on while working through his physical recovery as well as excelling in the classroom to achieve his new goals.

Jaheim has been accepted into the Gallaudet University for the deaf and hard of hearing in Washington, D.C. He intends to study ASL (American Sign Language) with the intention of bringing awareness and attention to deaf and hard of hearing athletes, and to ensure that they receive a fair chance as they pursue their athletic careers.

Not only was it Jaheim’s passion and fortitude that influenced our decision, but it was also his final statement that stood out to us here at Nosrati Law — “This is not the end of Jaheim Crayton; it was just a minor setback that has me working towards a major comeback.”

We are delighted to be able to play a small role in Jaheim’s comeback and academic success. Best of luck, Jaheim!
